Shobana Jeyasingh Dance’s Bayadère – The Ninth Life is a major commission from the Royal Opera House, first performed at the Linbury Studio Theatre. Inspired by Marius Petipa’s celebrated 1877 ballet La Bayadère, Jeyasingh draws on the original story of the ballet, as well as the first visit of Indian temple dancers to Europe in 1838. Directed and choreographed by Shobana Jeyasingh. Featuring dancers Avatâra Ayuso, Richard Causer, Nathan Goodman, Sunbee Han, Noora Kela, Davin King, Emily Pottage, Sooraj Subramaniam, and Teerachai Thobumrung. Music by Gabriel Prokofiev, lighting designed by Fabiana Piccioli, and costume and set design by Adam Wiltshire.
